WooHoo: Dubai’s First AI-Powered Menu Restaurant

Have you ever wondered what a dinosaur tastes like? While scientists debate the resurrection of mammoths, a restaurant called WooHoo has opened in the heart of Dubai, where an AI chef is already serving up tartare made from “prehistoric meat.” I decided to test the credibility of this project and discovered something strange: behind the futuristic façade are details that make one wonder whether this is genius or simply a well-packaged neural network.

So, the restaurant WooHoo is located in the Kempinski Hotel The Boulevard Dubai (formerly Address Boulevard). The website has a description and a link to the menu, which takes up four pages in small print, with desserts on the last page. The menu features 79 dishes and eight desserts. Interestingly, drinks are not listed, and some items are marked with a chef’s head icon — apparently, these are the algorithm’s “personal” recommendations.

Who is Alman? The digital mind behind the stove

Chef Alman is an AI-driven culinary concept embodied in the form of a handsome middle-aged man. He comes up with the recipes for the restaurant’s menu.

The AI has access to all recipes, looks for patterns in food combinations, and generates its own recipes. The team of chefs doesn’t blindly follow instructions, but tastes, adds, corrects, and improves them, and only after testing are the dishes served.

By the way, the handsome Alman has his own social media channels. If you’re interested, look for @chefaiman on YouTube.

Biohacking on a plate: how did a duck turn into a dinosaur?

The menu features an unusual dish: dinosaur tartare. Of course, dinosaur meat hasn’t been invented or recreated molecularly yet, but Alman believes that duck, if used, would be close in flavor.

The famous “Dinosaur tartare” by AI chef Alman

The dish includes duck confit, yogurt foam, nori crackers, and salsa. The logic is ironclad: chicken could have been used just as well, but “duck dinosaur” sounds much more Dubai-esque.

Spaceship in Downtown Dubai: Design and Dress Code

The website features some space-age walls mixed with classic furniture. Looking at the photos, it feels like you’ve stepped aboard a ship from Star Trek or Interstellar. However, the technical level of the project made me skeptical.

The social media buttons in the footer weren’t working, so I began to doubt the project was legit. It wasn’t until the contact page that I found working social media links, where I found videos of the interior, confirming that the restaurant really does exist and looks impressive.

By the way, WooHoo has a casual dress code. Reservations are required in advance, as they’re said to be quite busy.

But even the entry form is flawed; look at the picture. This is how some skilled people with decent start-up capital are creating a business with AI. WooHoo isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a social experiment. We’ve become accustomed to AI in texts and photos, but are we ready to accept it? And the website is buggy too…

In an era when even algorithms write our menus for us, something original and heartfelt is especially prized. And while Chef Alman is busy composing the menu, I’m creating things you can touch and love. Perhaps among my discoveries, you’ll find something useful for yourself, or just meet this cutie? 🦝

Are you willing to entrust your dinner to an algorithm, or is true cuisine only possible with a human soul? And the main question: how much are you willing to pay for a “dinosaur” tartare?
