Anyone who starts a YouTube channel starts looking for advice from experienced YouTubers. They promise that everything is simple: if you put the right tags, make videos without a face, or publish on schedule, then everything will definitely work out. I tried each kind of source of information: articles, videos, and books.

What if the secret is that popular bloggers don’t want to be overshadowed and given the wrong advice?

I decided to test these “secret formulas” on my channels, and I have 5 of them, and none of them have monetized in two years.

Spoiler: most of them are just myths that no longer work. I spend endless hours searching for answers that are repeated from source to source. After months of experimentation, I realized that all these hacks are powerless if one key element is missing.

Method #1

They advise making several videos in advance, describing them, adding relevant keywords, description, and putting them in the schedule, as usual.

So, they say that the algorithm will study the description and understand what the video is about faster. At the time of release, it will give a lot of views, since it already understands what the audience will want to see in this video.

Didn’t work. The algorithm continued to show as many views as it had before.

Method #2

A popular niche without a face is ASMR, where people like to listen to different sounds. I made such videos without overlaying music and adding trendy songs.

I didn’t see the result again; the channel continued to get as many views as it got.

Method #3

Find a channel in your niche with millions of subscribers and millions of views. Copy the video tags and add them to yours. I’ve known about this for a long time.

I repeated it. It didn’t increase my engagement.

Method #4

I asked the AI to write relevant titles, descriptions, and tags with a hook and according to all the SEO rules. It’s been more than two months, and the views have dropped completely…

Method #5

Use VID IQ. VONi now also uses AI, and I use the free version. And I also tried to insert the tags that they recommend. I don’t know if it depends on the paid and free versions, but on the free one, it didn’t help me at all.

Method #6

I looked for tags in the Google search bar. I entered the suggested keywords and copied those that Google suggested. As you understand, these methods didn’t work on my channels.

If you look, Mister Beast doesn’t write separate descriptions at all. But he became famous a long time ago; his main keyword in shorts descriptions is the name of his channel.

Or maybe he has so many followers because he threatens to take away their dog…

What works then?

In general, these methods did not help my channels, or I continue to do something wrong, or the most important thing is the quality of the video. Since I can’t afford a camera, let alone a good phone with a good video camera, I think it doesn’t matter what descriptions I write and when I publish and how many times a month, week, or day I publish.

The trickiest advice that doesn’t work at all is to shoot at anything! Shoot anything! Your audience will find you! No. The audience is spoiled, poor quality may have worked 10 years ago, now they want to watch even nonsense, but only in good quality.
