YouTube Growth Myths Exposed: 5 Promotion Strategies That Actually Fail
More Deception: 5 More Myths About YouTube Promotion
Tested on my 4 channels — why daily uploads and "magic" hashtags are burning your time instead of growing your audience

| A critical analysis of 5 popular YouTube growth myths based on real-world experiments across 4 different channels |
Myth #1: Add videos every day
Last time I wrote, I added videos every other day. I also tried adding them every day. But nothing changes. There are just random views until the algorithm decides that’s enough. Videos didn’t receive more views than one day apart.

The only difference is that since the videos are released daily, the monthly views and hours have increased. But the difference is not so visible as to bring my channels to monetization. Plus, you need to have a huge amount of free time.
Conclusion: upload frequency is not a magic wand. If the video has not “hooked” the algorithm, a daily schedule will not be saved. But burnout is almost guaranteed.
Myth #2: Changing Previews
I changed the preview on the video several times, and it did not help. I looked at some of my niche bloggers' previews; sometimes the previews look worse than mine, but they have many times more views. An example of preview options on my channel with Origami:

Tried: minimalism, very bright, fewer details, more details, different fonts, decorations in the background. Mysticism. The reception on my channels does not work. Thumbnail optimization is often called a key to success, but my experience says otherwise.
Conclusion: yes, the preview is important. But it does not determine the success of the video if the topic or interest for the viewer is weak.
Myth #3: Experimenting with publishing times
There are rumors that you need to go to YouTube analytics and see: the best viewing time of the day; the most popular days of the week; and post according to this principle. That’s what I did. In my observation, the views even dropped. I can’t show a screenshot, since YouTube refuses to show data on prime time on channels today.

I heard the second method here: you need to post two hours before high activity. Does not work absolutely, and the views dropped. Publishing schedule seems to be less important than the content's initial "hook".
Myth 4: Adding videos without tags
They say that the algorithm doesn’t pay attention to hashtags now; the main thing is what’s in the video and the description, and you don’t have to write tags. So without tags, the reach didn’t increase… And I can’t say that many people found my videos in the search. After all, by tags, the algorithm is guided by the search for tags.
I did add tags later. You don’t need to write 50 tags, but it’s still worth indicating a few for SEO optimization.
Myth #5: Add special tags to shorts
I read that if you add the following hashtags to your shorts, your video will definitely be noticed by the algorithm: #shorts; #tiktok; #tiktokviral. Well, nothing like that. Some videos get very little even with these hashtags.

Insider Tip: to make your videos look professional, you need a high-quality setup. If you need a reliable ring light with stand or a professional microphone with fast shipping, you can find the best gear on Amazon. Professional lighting and sound are the best "Plan B" to keep your viewers engaged while you navigate the algorithm!
Anyway, while I continue to fight for every view on my channels, I’m focused on creating something real. Maybe you’ll find something useful for your own creative process here or just something cool to keep your mood up! 🦝
